HISTORY OF THE WATERLOO ART EXHIBITION
John Bramham – Chairman, was the first organiser of the art exhibition in 2007 looking for events to attract visitors to the church in order for the magnificent build to raise funds to maintain the church. Marie Curtis an member of a local art group entered the exhibition in 2007 and it was then she took and interest in Old Christ Church and became a volunteer taking over the organisation of the exhibition in 2008. Marie organised the art exhibition every year until Covid 19 prevented the event. Sadly she died 11th March 2022. Marie will be remember for the valuable work she did as a volunteer committee member not only for the work she did for the art exhibition but for many other events she help with. In 2022 the church opened its doors again to the public after the Covid pandemic. Karen Evans, also exhibited at the 2007 with her mother Shirley Evans as an artisan with her stall Kindred Cards and Gifts. Thereafter, with her love of Old Christ Church wanted to help maintain the building for generation to come and also create a venue for the local community to gather with their mutual love of arts, crafts and other past times. In 2008 Karen volunteered and soon became a committee member, and with her organisation and computer skills was soon doing most of the admin work, producing flyers etc. for events and organising three craft fairs each year, designed a new website and introduced Old Christ Church to Facebook. It was in 2022, when Marie died, Karen took over organising the art exhibition.
